Prayer of Christina Rosetti

Lord seek us, Lord find us
In Thy patient care,
Be Thy love before us, behind us
Lest he bait a snare,
Lest he forge a chain to bind us,
Lest he speak us fair,
Turn not from us, call to mind us,
Find, embrace us, hear.
Be Thy love before us, behind us,
Round us everywhere.

Teach us, Lord, to fear thee without being afraid;
to fear thee in love, that we may love without fear;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God, though our sins be seven, though our sins be seventy times seven, though our sins be more in number than the hairs of our head, yet give us grace in loving penitence to cast ourselves down into the depths of thy compassion.

Holy Spirit,
as the wind is thy symbol, so forward our goings,
as the dove, so launch us heavenwards,
as water, so purify our spirits,
as a cloud, so abate our temptations,
as dew, so revive our languor,
as fire, so purge out our dross.

Speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth.
Grant us ears to hear,
eyes to see,
wills to obey,
hearts to love;
then declare what thou wilt,
reveal what thou wilt,
command what thou wilt,
demand what thou wilt.

Open wide the window of our spirits, O Lord, and fill us full of light;
open wide the door of our hearts, that we may receive and entertain you
with all our powers of adoration and praise.

O lord God of time and eternity, who makes us creatures of time, that when time is over, we may attain your blessed eternity: with time, your gift, give us also wisdom to redeem the time, so our day of grace is not lost;for Lord Jesus' sake.

Lord,Thou art life, though I be dead,
Love's fire Thou art, however cold I be;
Nor heaven have I, nor place to lay my head,
Nor home, but thee.

O Lord God of time and eternity, who makes us creatures of time, that when time is over, we may attain your blessed eternity: with time, your gift, give us also wisdom to redeem the time, so our day of grace is not lost; for Lord Jesus' sake.
